Energy Efficiency
How we save energyclick here
Our homes are not only more energy efficient to run but we have also simplified the construction process with our flat pack system so the majority of the work can be done in our factory. This greatly reduces our impact on the site and the overall embodied energy in the finished home.
While we strive to minimise our footprint we have a large range of individually designed homes that still encompass the same efficiencies. So whether you want a smaller home or a large family home Living Green Designer Homes has the answer for you.
Construction Processclick here
Clever design features mean that the construction process takes approximately 50% of the time required for a typical slab/brick/tile house. This is achieved through a refined assembly process that is continually subject to further research and development in conjunction with major industry material manufacturers.
Product / Resource selectionclick here
The team at Living Green Designer Homes are always looking for new products that will further improve water and energy efficiency and minimise waste. We are working in association with major manufacturers to ensure we are up-to-date with the latest in environmentally responsible and energy efficient materials.
Transportclick here
Transporting products to building sites usually results in the use of large quantities of both fuel and other resources. Living Green Designer Homes has put in place a standard to greatly reduce the amount of transport required and therefore combat any unnecessary greenhouse gasses being emitted during the construction process.
One of the key facets of this is our ability to produce the homes to lockup in our factory, enabling us to have a single delivery for most sized homes of all components complete lock-up stage onsite.
We strive to limit the amount of double handling by carefully planning and coordinating all deliveries to minimise any unnecessary trips thus reducing our carbon footprint.
Passive Designclick here
Utilisation of natural air movement for cooling, passive solar heating and appropriate positioning of the home on-site are all part of the passive design features of Living Green Designer Homes.
Research has shown that heating and cooling account for an average of approximately 40% of household energy costs across Australia. Homes designed to suit the climate of their location result in a significant reduction in the amount of energy required to heat and cool the home.
Different designs along with innovative appliances may be required in some harsher climates throughout Australia. Our research into different climate zones has shown that we will need to be continually offering a range of solutions to cope with the more extreme climates.
Waste Managementclick here
Waste materials are recycled wherever possible. Leftover timber, paper, gyprock and other building by-products are stock piled on site and then recycled at the end of the construction.
Our designs have allowed us to order the majority of our building materials to a pre-determined size, thereby producing less on-site waste.
Living Green Designer Homes will continue to research ways of minimising and recycling waste. As part of limiting waste and packaging being delivered to the site we have requested all suppliers to reduce their waste on site by them removing it for reuse or recycling and for items to be unpackaged on site and waste returned to their warehouse.
We have set out to minimise waste by educating all our staff, subcontractors & suppliers on the importance of striving to lower the amount of waste that ends up as landfill.
